Lately, I’ve been sitting with the reality that so much of how we’re taught to move through the world—especially as Black women—is rooted in overgiving. We’re praised for being everything to everyone: the dependable one, the nurturer, the achiever, the fixer. And while that strength is real, it can also be exhausting. Somewhere along the way, we start measuring our worth by how useful we are instead of how whole we already are.
